Helen Smithies (BSc. (Hons), PGCE) is a Personal, Social Health and Economics Education (PSHE education) and Healthy Schools Consultant for the Leeds Health and Wellbeing Service. Helen has been a consultant for 6 years. Before joining the service, Helen was a primary school teacher and the PSHE & Healthy Schools Coordinator in an ‘outstanding’ school for 5 years. Helen designs and facilitates PSHE training as well as offering individualised training, advice and support in all types of schools and settings across Leeds. Helen has also been instrumental in redesigning and aligning Healthy Schools with Ofsted through the development of a new, online, Healthy Schools’ revalidation and school improvement tool. Helen has a good breadth of experience of Investors in Pupils having implemented the programme whilst working in school as the Investors in Pupils’ coordinator and latterly as Investors in Pupils Assessor for the last 3 years.
